Draft Smart, Sustainable Masterplan for Symmons Plains International Raceway
Symmons Plains International Raceway is Tasmania's premier motorsports venue. pitt&sherry's drafted a smart and sustainable masterplan to future-proof the site.
Project aim
This project aims to provide an evidence-based, smart sustainable masterplan that will future-proof the site for the next 20 years and attract investment to sustain Tasmania’s premier motorsports venue.
What we did
In 2023, our land use planners prepared a background analysis report for a masterplan for Motorsports Tasmania’s Symmons Plains venue, which involved researching:
- current site usage and constraints
- current state/local strategies, policies and development controls
- contemporary masterplans for similar venues (national and international); and
- various smart, sustainable precincts (national).
We are now assisting with the consultation phase and have begun planning scheme amendment project to facilitate new development on the site.
Key outcomes
Following stakeholder engagement with the client’s staff and Board of Directors, a draft masterplan has been prepared for wider stakeholder engagement. The masterplan proposes site expansion, onsite renewable energy generation, electrification of precincts, zero waste and circular systems, smart infrastructure and services, and the integration of green infrastructure to improve the site’s natural values.
